Stuck in Time

One of my layovers is in Presque Isle Maine. It is a beautiful town stuck in time. The people are pleasant and very peaceful. The more you come, the more everyone knows your name. I’m from Philly, so I’m not used to small towns. The more I visit, the more I love it. I like to try different foods when given the chance. I especially like to go where the locals recommend. On this trip I had dinner at Rodney’s. It’s a restaurant located inside the hotel we frequently stay at called The Northeastland.

First, the Northeastland is a nostalgic hotel with charm and great people. The main area has recently been renovated and is very comfortable. The rooms are outdated with ugly burgundy carpet and actual door keys. They use duvet inserts with no covering, but its clean. That’s what matters most. It has one elevator that has seen better days and only allows up to 2 or 3 people at a time if your luggage is light.

Rodney’s is amazing. The staff, the ambiance, and most importantly, the food. The first time I stopped in, I had a pasta. It was on my first trip here and too long ago for me to remember the details. This time, I came in around 9 pm. and was still permitted to order from the full menu. After 9 p.m., they have a limited menu. I kept it simple and ordered a medium rare burger with a side of fries. Best burger I’ve had in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised. The fries are crispy, and the local soda selection is a can’t miss.
